Wellington Camp

We are back from camp and I am worn out entirely. My favourite activity was probably a cross between the Zoo, Snorkeling and Te Papa. My least favourite part was 100% the bus rides!!!
This was what we did...

Sunday
I woke up bright and early to get ready for camp. OK, checklist, toothbrush. toothpaste, hairbrush, shampoo, conditioner, raincoat, shirts, shorts, tights, jeans, towels, togs, goggles, hat, jumpers, pillow, sleeping bag, teddy, socks, sneakers, converses, jandals, puffer jacket, cat. George, you're not supposed to be in there! Here we go. We jumped in the car and headed to school. Time flyed by and all our bags were already under the bus and we were nearly half way there. I was sitting next to my mum so we played a lot of games. Boring, boring, boring and more boring. Sorry was I supposed to say, yay I love having 9 hours on a bus! NOT!!!

Monday
On the first day we went to Zealandia and learnt all about the wild life in the wetlands and learnt a little bit about tuataras. We also watched a clip about what the forest was back in the day when it was so peaceful then everybody decided to set the forest on fire to draw the animals out of the forest for food. It was so sad, which is why everybody is learning about it now and why animals are kept save. After Zealandia we went exploring to Te Papa and discovered a bit about the giant squid. Te Papa was really interesting and I had lots of fun exploring. Afterwards we went to the national library and our instructor told us a lot about World War 1. It was a bit boring as I got a tiny bit confused but it was also really interesting how afterwards we got to have a scavenger hunt around in the gallery. After our long day we had a relaxing time at the pools. Well, not really relaxing, more like hydroslides, bombs and waves which is the complete opposite of relaxing! Afterwards it was just Nachos, ice cream, showers talking, then lights out.

Tuesday
The next day we departed for central wellington and made our way to the carter observatory. I had also for some odd reason I had been warned not to fall asleep? We had a lesson and a person knew technically absolutely everything as if he could read minds. Finally we went into a different room and the screen was on the roof. We looked at the stars and the constellations. There was Unicorns, Crabs, Orion and plenty more. It was so peaceful and dark that I could probably almost fall asleep but that's when I realised what the teacher was meaning. Other people in this class in this class previous years had fallen asleep halfway through. When we finished we sat down and ate our lunch then waited for the cable cars to come. When the cable car arrived we all boarded and grabbed a seat. I was so excited!!! When we started to chug along my excitement had turn to disappointment as I found out it was just a slow and quick ride to get us to the parliament so we didn't have to walk for ages :( . When we arrived at the beehive my eyes where nearly blinded by the photos everyone took. It was even worse when Andrew Little came to talk to us. We placed our bags through the scanner and then walked through ourselves. My friends and I were hoping and praying it did not set off. We dumped our bags in a locked closet and went to have a chat about the beehive. We also got to ask one of the member of parliament ( MP ) some questions about her job. After a lot of questions were asked we headed down into the house. It was crazy down there. Everybody was arguing something about houses and people would disagree and say something but then the speaker would speak louder and louder. After we escaped out of the parliament we made our way down to Capital E. My group were at ontv and the other group was the media studio and on Thursday we would swap. We dumped our bags in the box and ran to the dressing room. I was a presenter so mum suggested to wear something like a coat of dress top, so I took her advice and went with a red coat and a itchy, black scarf. I went over my questions for the big bad wolf, he went over his answers and then we practised together before the rehearsal. 3 2 1... ACTION. In no time we were onto the real deal. 3 2 1... ACTION. Great job everyone. We each patted each other on the back and sat down to watch our Once Upon a Crime. Ha Ha Ha Ha. It was hilarious. After another big day we were all exhausted but we were all to excited for another great day it was impossible to get to sleep zzzzzzzzzzz...

Wednesday
We are going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. How about you, you, you. You can come too, too, too. We are going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. OMG, one part of me wishes I hadn't gone to the zoo. You want to know why because Tarantulas are in New Zealand now, they are like super, deadly, mini, big monsters! We arrived a bit earlier than 10 o'clock so we got to play on the playground. As soon as everyone was organised we made our way towards the living room. We waited for our instructor and then he showed us a little bit around the zoo. He showed us a Gabon, Red Panda, Bears and even took us to the Kiwi enclosure. He also took us to see the Tiger and we were aloud to stay and watch him be fed by hand so that the person who looks after the tigers can see how healthy his mouth was. Afterwards we had to go in our groups and then we looked around the zoo. We first went to see the neighbours which was animals from Australia. The best thing was all the kangaroos we all out running around but the other animals like the Tasmanian Devil, Meerkats and Porcupines and stuff were all in cages. We walked around having a great big look until we all went to the gift shop with our money. I mostly brought everything for my brother and sister but I knew they would like it. After our big visit to the zoo we went to a marine sanctuary for snorkeling. We went in our ontv groups but one person in the other group couldn't swim with her broken arm so I got put ion the other group with my friend Hadlee. I was here partner and we chose a parent and jumped in the freezing water with our big, thick wetsuits while holding onto the yellow boogie board. It was absolutely cold as I could feel the water rushing inside my wetsuit but all was forgotten as these giant blue and silver fish swam past us and these black, stringy starfish wriggling around. With ten minutes left Hadlee and I were half frozen so we decided to swim to shore. We both played on the beach with our group while the others were in the water and then chucked our bags on the bus. We all lined up against the concrete wall and headed to the aquarium. As soon as we entered everybody raced for the glass to take a look. Baby sharks were in eggs and you could slightly see their tiny tail in the egg. Afterwards everyone rushed to the touch and feel area and picked up all sorts of things like starfish, hermit crabs, shells, sea anemones, kina and even these funny soft looking things. Again after that we all piled into our seats and almost fell asleep. We managed to haul ourselves off the bus and then we chucked our bags on the floor and lay on our beds chatting. Lights out!

Thursday
Oh No, rumors are that we are supposed to have a cabin inspection. Chuck everything in your suitcase, chuck it under the beds, hide them in your suitcases, not long till she comes. It was like World War 1 all over again in the trenches. Panic, panic, panic, here she comes!!! Phew it's over. We are alive and our cabin is finally clean. Knock, knock, knock. Stay calm, act natural. Hello Gale. Yes we passed! Glad that's over. We were still in our PJ's, so we quickly got changed and our cabin was already all over the place. Great, cereal and toast again. I swallowed my toast and poured down my juice then went to pack my bag. We were all so tired so at least we weren't doing any sport or running. The first thing on the list was holocaust so we drove all the way to central wellington and waited for their doors to open. When it finally came to 10 o'clock we walked inside and took a seat. To be honest I didn't quite like the holocaust centre but all I know is that it was a sad and cruel event. First of all she asked what we know and a lady talked to us about it. She obviously knew quite a lot as she was a child back then who had survived. They collected buttons for each child life that was lost and asked a school to help. Overall 1.5 million buttons were collected. Afterwards we watched a clip about a boy that was a jew and how they were treated and how mean Adolf Hitler was. We rounded up our gatherings and got on the bus ready for the Wellington Museum. We all went into this room and had to guess what the museum used to be. Our instructor told us to look out for rats so we all did. Eventually a fake rat would run to the other side of the pole. Also there was a mechanical cat waving it's tail. Of course (as I mentioned before) the person who has the answer for everything guessed the answer. It used to be a place where everything got shipped to like beer, grains and lots of other stuff so there were lot's of rats all over the place until they decided to move the store. First of all we looked around one floor at the new inventions in years from 1900-2000, then we went upstairs and looked at the waihine disaster. We did a little acting thing and I was a university student coming home for the holidays. Afterwards we went back downstairs and watched a little clip about it. It was so sad. We then were aloud to look around and there were so much things like the skippers cabin, a steering wheel, weights and other stuff as well. We all went down to the gift shop and brought a pair of earrings for myself and since we own a boat I got my dad a hat saying skipper and my brother a hat saying first mate. My group and I traveled on down to the playground and played on that for about 20 minutes and then we made our way down to Capital E. This time my group was going to the media centre to make apps while the other group was at ontv. I thought it would of been completely boring but it was actually really fun. First we made an app about a cat. You had to make it purr and meow and then it would show on the phone you were given. Next we made a drawing app and when you shake the screen it would disappear. We got to choose our colours so I chose peach, pink, blue, yellow and of course green. Next we made an app called magic8ball. When you tap the magic ball it will come up with an answer like yes or no. You had to choose your answers and mix them up so I chose yes, no, maybe and Google it. That was so much fun that I decided to use my school email so I can make adjustments whenever I would like. We traveled on back down to camp and started to sadly pack our bags. We were all beyond ready to go home but we were having too much fun. I was exhausted but Hadlee and I felt like it was just impossible.

Friday
Rise and shine girls, time to get up. We all woke up with a start and could barely get up for breakfast. We dragged ourselves out of bed and headed to the dining room. Whoops, I had just walked strait into the door. I took a plate and grabbed two pieces of toast then slapped on some peanut butter. After I raced around our cabin making sure nothing was left and then chucked it all into my bag. I packed my day bag then wheeled my stuffed bag over to the bus. It was quater past six and I was nearly ready. In no time the bus was chugging along the road and it all went away so fast I didn't even realise we were back at school.

Camp was so much fun and I can not wait till next years.
P.S. I have no siblings for a week!!!

Week 7 Term 1

As always, again we have learnt a lot. I have learnt about Fanboys (For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So)  and compound sentences which is just two simple sentences that make sense on it's own and then put a comma and a Fanboy in between them. I have learnt all the maths that I didn't know from my previous test like order of operations and integers. Yesterday we also sat a test with the same sort of answers to see how much we have remembered and how much we have already improved. On Tuesday I'm pretty sure was our last music lesson for Tech Arts, and we had to choreograph a dance routine including sport moves. Our next lesson is art and I'm really looking forward to it. Oh, and one more thing. This Sunday we catch the bus for wellington for our school camp. I am so excited!!! Wellington here we come!!!!!

Week 6 Term 1

This week quite a lot has been learnt. Yesterday we had started researching and writing about 100 years of gallipoli world war 1. We have had lessons about square root and order of operations which you need to use BEDMAS (Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction) to find out the answer and Factor trees to find the prime numbers of that number. We have also finished and published our portrait poems like I have here...
